5 Dividend-Paying Stocks Hitting New 52-Week Highs Right Now

Maybe it's the expectation that interest rates are peaking. Maybe it has to do with the sectors they're serving. Maybe it's all about how well run these might be. Maybe they've just been hyped in the media without any fundamental reason. Whatever it is, these 5 stocks are hitting new 52-week highs this week even as the rest of the market struggles to hit last year's peak prices: China Mobile  is the Hong Kong-based wireless communications business that trades on the New York Stock Exchange with a price/earnings ratio of 11 and at 1.3 times book value. The 5-year earnings record is negative but last year's earnings were positive. China Mobile has no long-term debt and the current ratio is green. The company is paying a 4.24% dividend yield. CenterPoint Energy is NYSE-listed and currently trades with the higher-than-the-market price/earnings ratio of 29. The gas utilities company, headquartered in Houston, is having a very good earnings year and the past 5-year record is positive as well. Shareholder equity is exceeded by long-term debt, a concern for certain types of value investors. CenterPoint's dividend yield comes to 3.94%. This month, the analysts at Guggenheim moved the stock from "neutral" to "buy."Genie Energy is based in Newark and trades on the New York Stock Exchange. The independent oil and gas outfit is lightly traded with only about 400,000 shares changing hands daily on average. Genie's price/earnings ratio is 10 and it's selling for about 3 times book value. Earnings last year were very good and the 5-year record is in the green. Shareholder equity greatly exceeds a tiny  amount of long-term debt. The company pays a 3.4% dividend yield.Tribune Media is the Chicago-based media company that just ended an 8-day disagreement with Charter Communications that had kept Tribune television (including Sunday NFL games) off of the Charter cable system.
