WHITEPAPER ON RISK DATA AGGREGATION AND REPORTING GUIDELINES (BCBS 239)

A bank's ability to get a holistic view of its risks in times of stress is critical to survive a crisis. Against the backdrop of the 2008 financial crisis, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) published a consultative paper (BCBS Regulation 239) on the 'Principles for Effective Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting' in January 2013. The paper is aimed at strengthening risk management at banks to avert instability of the global financial system. It enlists 14 principles, out of which 11 are relevant to banks.
