Most equity markets have made a strong start to the
second quarter of the year. More cyclical (economically
sensitive) sectors have rallied once again, supported by
further strength in the oil price. Markets have shrugged
off the failure of OPEC (Organisation of the Petroleum
Exporting Countries) and other large oil producers to
reach an agreement to freeze output levels. Oil prices
have risen to new 2016 highs and remain positively
correlated with equity markets..
