(Nasdaq: NGHC) today announced that it has agreed to acquire Elara Holdings, Inc., the parent company of Direct General Corporation, a Tennessee based P&C insurance company that predominantly writes non-standard auto business in the Southeastern United States. The largest auto recall in U.S. history continues to grow. On Friday, May 27, Takata expanded its airbag recall in the U.S. to include more than 12 million vehicles manufactured by eight major automakers: Honda, Fiat Chrysler, Toyota, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Ferrari, and Mitsubishi.With more than 4.5 million inflators, Honda had the biggest recall total, while Fiat Chrysler reported 4.3 million.
